When Treatment Became a Blessing: The Compassionate Effort of Mission Roshni

When service transcends being a mere event and transforms into an expression of compassion, and when the memory of a departed soul becomes a medium of public welfare, such initiatives become timeless examples of humanity. A deeply moving scene unfolded on Sunday at the sacred Hanuman Tauria temple premises, where a one-day free eye examination and cataract screening camp was successfully organized under Mission Roshni.

The camp was organized in the sacred memory of late Ashok Asati with the special support of his uncle Shri Radhelal Asati and son Shivank Asati. The initiative brought hope and relief to hundreds of underprivileged individuals.

The program commenced with floral tributes and lighting of the ceremonial lamp before the image of Lord Hanuman. From early morning, elderly citizens, women, laborers, farmers, and needy patients from distant areas gathered in large numbers, carrying hope in their eyes for a clearer life ahead.

Committee member Girja Patkar stated that Mission Roshni aims to provide eye care services to those for whom medical treatment remains financially out of reach.

Senior ophthalmologist Dr. Arvind Mishra and his team from Sadguru Eye Hospital, Chitrakoot, conducted detailed examinations. More than 200 poor and needy patients were examined, provided medical consultation, free medicines, and spectacles wherever required.

A major highlight of the camp was the identification of 40 cataract patients, who were sent the same day to Sadguru Eye Hospital, Chitrakoot. All selected patients will undergo free cataract surgery, restoring their vision and transforming their lives.

Radhelal Asati and Shivank Asati actively participated throughout the camp, personally overseeing registrations, patient assistance, and food distribution. Their hands-on involvement added a deeply humane and respectful dimension to the service.

The Hanuman Tauria Seva Samiti has been conducting such camps continuously for the past 16 years. This was the fourth camp of the current year. According to the committee, over one lakh patients have benefited so far, and more than 25,000 cataract surgeries have been successfully conducted.

Several dignitaries, social workers, and community leaders were present, and the event was made successful by the dedicated efforts of the committee members and volunteers.

This camp was not merely a medical initiative but a sincere effort to restore faith and vision to those deprived by poverty. Organized in memory of late Ashok Asati, it conveyed a powerful message while human life is mortal, service done in the name of humanity makes one immortal.
