A Mother’s Love Beyond Life 🌸

On Mother’s Day, an inspiring story from Shahgarh has touched countless hearts.

Forty-year-old Kanchan Asati, who had been battling severe kidney disease for nearly 10 years, received a new life when her 75-year-old mother, Manorama Asati, donated her kidney to save her daughter. Despite the risks associated with age, doctors at Bansal Hospital, Bhopal successfully performed the kidney transplant in June 2025. Today, both mother and daughter are healthy and living a normal life.

Around 10 years ago, during pregnancy, Kanchan Asati was admitted to the hospital. After delivery, medical tests revealed that her kidneys were not functioning properly. A long struggle began as creatinine and urea levels continued to rise. She underwent treatment in several hospitals across Delhi, Haryana, Indore, and Ahmedabad, but her condition kept worsening. Eventually, doctors declared that a kidney transplant was the only remaining option.

To save Kanchan’s life, nearly 10 relatives and family members were tested, but none of their kidneys matched. Finally, her 75-year-old mother, Manorama Asati from Damoh, was tested and her kidney turned out to be a match.

Initially, doctors hesitated to perform the transplant because of her age, calling it highly risky. But the family refused to lose hope.

During this difficult journey, Kanchan’s husband, Amit Anand Asati, passed away in 2024 due to cardiac arrest. Left with her two sons, 19-year-old Kaustubh and 11-year-old Kautilya, Kanchan became completely dependent on dialysis.

Watching her daughter grow weaker every day, Manorama Asati told her family:
"If my kidney can save my daughter’s life, I am ready for it." 🙏

In June 2025, a team of doctors at Bansal Hospital took the risk and successfully completed the transplant surgery.

Dr. Ajit Anand Asati, Assistant Professor at Bundelkhand Medical College, said:
"This was not just a medical operation, but one of the greatest examples of a mother’s love, sacrifice, and courage."
