Damoh Asati Samaj’s Grand Kawad Yatra Braves Heavy Rain, Concludes with Jalabhishek at Shri Dev Jatashankar Dham

The grand Kawad Yatra organised by Sakal Asati Samaj, Damoh, on Sunday during the auspicious month of Sawan was successfully completed amid heavy rain, devotion and tremendous enthusiasm. The downpour could not dampen the spirit of the Shiva devotees, who continued the procession with chants of “Har Har Mahadev”, presenting a powerful example of faith, unity and community spirit.

The Kawad Yatra began from Shri Ram Mandir at Talkies Tiraha. Before the procession commenced, prayers and rituals were performed as per tradition. Members of the women’s community led the initial worship, after which the devotees filled their kawads with holy Narmada water and prepared to proceed towards the abode of Lord Shiva.

Following the worship of Lord Bholenath, the Kawad Yatra formally began.
The procession passed through Bakouli Chowk, Ghantaghar, Hospital Chauraha and Kotwali Chauraha, before reaching Shri Dev Jatashankar Dham. Heavy rain lashed several parts of the route, but the devotion and enthusiasm of the participants remained undiminished. The procession continued without stopping and reached its destination with great fervour, where the devotees performed Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva with Narmada water and raised chants of “Har Har Mahadev.”

Spirit Remains Unstoppable Despite Rain;
Grand Welcomes Along the Route
The Kawad Yatra received warm and enthusiastic welcomes at several locations across the city. At Bakouli Chowk, Ghantaghar, Hospital Chauraha and Kotwali Chauraha, among other places, devotees and community members welcomed the kawadiyas with fruits, drinking water and flower showers.

The society’s banner led the procession, followed by the Jatashankar Dham Damru Dal, whose performance added to the devotional atmosphere. Young children from the community proudly carried kawads, while women also participated with great enthusiasm, carrying kawads, chanting the name of Lord Shiva and dancing and singing in devotion.

Participation from Children, Women, Youth and Senior Citizens:
One of the highlights of the Kawad Yatra was the enthusiastic participation of young children, women, mothers, youth and senior citizens from the community. Despite the heavy rainfall, people from every section participated wholeheartedly, adding grandeur and energy to the event.
Community members said that the collective participation demonstrated a strong message of unity:
“Damoh was always one, is one, and will always remain one.”
The procession reflected the community’s deep faith, unity and spirit of collective participation.

Lord Shiva’s Representations and Damru Dal Become Major Attractions
The representations of Lord Shiva by Deepak Asati, Apsara and Anant Asati were among the special attractions of the Kawad Yatra. Devotees warmly welcomed them, sought their blessings and raised enthusiastic chants of Lord Shiva.
The performance by the Jatashankar Dham Damru Dal further enhanced the devotional atmosphere. The beats of the damrus, combined with the chants of “Har Har Mahadev,” created a deeply spiritual environment throughout the procession.

Women’s Committee and Youth Team Play Key Roles:
The Damoh Asati Samaj Women’s Committee played an important role in the successful organisation of the Kawad Yatra. The women’s team efficiently managed various arrangements and remained actively involved throughout the programme.

The youth team also contributed significantly by bringing tremendous energy and enthusiasm to the procession. From preparations and arrangements to helping ensure the smooth movement of the yatra, the young members played an important role in its successful completion.
Despite the heavy rainfall, the successful completion of the grand Kawad Yatra became a memorable example of the faith, unity and collective strength of Damoh Asati Samaj.

The event concluded at Shri Dev Jatashankar Dham with Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva, devotional chants and prayers for the happiness, prosperity, peace and continued unity of the entire Asati community.
